The purpose of the class is to deliver a variety of speeches in a classroom and/or public setting.

Purpose of the Class: Delivery of biographical, philosophical, current event speeches, motivational speeches, advertisement/propaganda (sales), and career readiness speeches. Develop personal presence and confidence while delivering speeches and in job related environments. Assessments:Group Work: Analyze, Compare, Collaborative, sharing and reflecting, preparing arguments and speeches with evidence from multiple sources. Reading: Current Events, Speeches, and Technical Information Writing: Instructional, Biographical, Informational Papers, Persuasive Essays; Analyzing performances by peers and self. Speaking: Group or Singular Presentations using technology; speeches on self, contemporary events, interpersonal presentation skills Questioning and Researching: Extending topics in classes by creating questions, presentations, researching contemporary topics , businesses, entrepreneurs, and successful speakers over time.

Classroom Climate: In order to maintain a supportive environment You are expected to arrive to class ON TIME or bring a pass You are responsible for taking care of your food and drinks in the classroom Phones are expected to be OFF. Messaging and texting are considered rude and disruptive to the speaker and is not considered proper in a professional context. Phones can and will be confiscated if used improperly. Behave in a responsible manner. 3. Attend all classes, regularly and on time. 4. Prepare for each class; take appropriate materials and assignments to class. 5. Meet District and campus standards of behavior, grooming and dress code.
